I'm tired of excuses!

I know I make them too (like today I really "want" to work out, but now I have cramps).

Our church has several requirements for membership.
1. Attend Connecting Point (two consecutive weeks of a three hours "class" about Watermark) - this isn't listed in the requirements because you are at CP when you get the list of requirements.
2. Sign Membership Covenant (http://www.watermark.org/connected/covenant.asp)
3. Share your testimony with a member of the Believe team
4. Join a Community Group
5. Choose an area of Service (and actually begin Serving) (http://www.watermark.org/materials/ServiceOpps.pdf) - you'll see there are PLENTY to choose from

People want the membership title - but don't want to commit to what the church requires (that's where the excuses come in).

A different subject: On Sunday Todd preached on Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. He basically broke it down to prove that Wesley (the song writer) knew what he was preaching. He knew what he believed. And he believed it enough to write a song. If I wrote a song about what I believe - would I be able to articulate everything (10 verses!)? I've gone to church my entire life - but do I really know know (first "know" added for extra emphasis) what I believe? On another note - Wesley was Charles Wesley - brother of John Wesley (founder of the United Methodist Church) and while I certainly cannot speak for all UMC's, it seems as though most have drifted far far away from when Charles wrote those words.
