This post has 2 parts, don't worry though, they will come together.
1. I'd like to confess to the blogging world that we are not good neighbors. Not that we are mean or intentional about not being good neighbors, but we just don't know our neighbors. Seriously, I've the seen the guy (I'm pretty sure there is a couple, but we've never seen the woman) that lives next door maybe 2 times and we've lived in our house 1 1/2 years. We are cordial with the people across the alley, but only because she's the crossing guard on our corner. One time I asked a guy a couple houses down to borrow his chainsaw, only to be told, "I don't think that's something people really lend out." Oops. Instead of meeting these people, I complain that our next door neighbor's fence is falling over into our driveway.
2. On Wednesday night, a storm came through Plano. Apparently there were several tornados that touched down in the area. It woke Mike and I up around 3am - because of thunder and wind. We got up and looked in the backyard to make sure trees weren't falling over, and then we went to the front yard - and a tree had fallen over. Not ours, but our neighbors. It looked like this.
Yesterday afternoon, when I got home from work there was a note on our front door. It was from our neighbor - we've never met - apologizing for the mess and letting us know he was going to have it taken care of ASAP. It had his number for us to call if we had any questions. This is our in.
Mr. Scuggs - thanks for taking that first step. We will call - to thank you for thinking of us during this time! Hopefully, we will be able to develop a relationship through the falling down of your tree into our front yard.
