Over the mountain if...

you've ever been on a church staff that plays a drinking game to get to know one another...

Today was staff lunch. We have about 80 or so people on staff here and we have a staff lunch every month. No - we don't play a drinking game. But yes we do play Over the mountain (which when I was in high school and college was better known as "Never have I ever").

Instead of drinking, we run around a big circle and the last person to get a seat has to do the next Over the mountain. Kind of a musical chairs type game.

So - here's where the blog comes in - more to record a most embarrassing story than anything else.

Get ready...
Over the mountain if...
you've ever smoked pot.

Up I go...scrambling around with the countless others on staff that have also taken part in this activity.
Trying to be extra cautious, since I'm carrying child and all, I go for a seat not to far from mine.
Taken.
So I cross the circle - with my eye on another.
Taken.
In my efforts to change direction quickly (understanding why football players practice this move constantly) I go down. (I'm blaming an inbalance because I'm pregnant)
I mean down.
Apparently, I did some crazy protective mom move and rolled before my belly touched the floor, but I did not miss my knee. I have the war wound to prove it.
Our pastor - who has had a pregnant wife multiple times (they have 6 kids) jumped up and came to my rescue. I have no doubt there were countless other men on their way.

This is one of my most embarrassing moments because:
  • I fell in front of 80 people (those of you who read this that have known me since 10th grade-ish - know this is not the first time I've fallen in front of a group).
  • The 80 people are people I work with - not strangers. People I will see tomorrow and the next day.
  • I am pregnant - so there was some momentary panic.
  • And the Over the mountain was about smoking pot - normally you get up on questions like these, because in all the roucous no one notices who got up, except the person who is left up. I assure you - no one missed this.
The only thing that would have made it worse - was if the Over the mountain had been:
Over the mountain if you've smoked pot today.
